What is TPO Roofing System?

TPO Roof System

TPO roof system

Roofers installing TPO Membranes

Features

TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) membranes are single-ply roof membranes manufactured from ethylene propylene rubber. TPO is an elastomeric membrane that accepts roofing motion along with damaging thermal shock. They are resistant against ozone, algae, and are eco-friendly and safe to install. TPO is a single ply roofing membrane currently in use on residential and commercial buildings.

The membrane is commonly installed using mechanical fasteners placed down the edge of the sheet or with adhesives.

Benefits - TPO Roofing Systems

A TPO roof strength  seam strength is reportedly three to four times those of EPDM’s adhesive and tape seams as seams are “welded” together with hot air.

Rooftop temperatures are as much as 60 degrees Fahrenheit (F) cooler with a white sheet compared with a black EPDM, modified bitumen, or built-up system.

The trend toward Energy Star-labeled, compliant reflective roofing is a huge benefit for TPO Roofing Systems.

This high, sustained reflectivity is saving significant energy and money for building owners all over the United States. Because the TPO roofing systems are mechanically-attached and insulation can be placed under the membrane during the roof installation, you can reduce your building’s heat loss in the winter.

White TPO carries the Energy Star label for approved energy saving roofing products. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star labeling program identifies roofing products that can reduce energy consumption and reduce problems associated with heat build-up, smog and air pollution.

  • Resistant to fire, chemicals, grease, high winds, and punctures.
  • Installed without disruption to building operations.
  • Highly reflective. The white membrane delivers real cost savings for building owners and managers.
  • Code compliant.
  • Professionally installed.
  • Backed by the industry’s best warranties
