After about 15 minutes he came down and said "The roof is good, but the drain pan pipe on the HVAC unit move out of position and was draining on the attic floor and then onto our ceiling causing the leak on the bedroom floor. The tech went to the truck and came back with a caulk gun and re-installed the drain pan pipe so that it drained into the drain pan. There also wasn’t the feeling of “fast food” roofing as there was opportunity get all my questions answered and to change/improve upon the existing materials etc. Great job by the construction crew in keeping the site clean. He was very responsive and never hesitated to explain any part of the process in a clear and professional manner. It also didn’t hurt that he was a Cowboys fan which made for great non-roof conversations. The crew that performed the work were very fast and very thorough in the cleanup after the work was complete. The only sign that anyone had been at my house was the shiny new roof they left behind. He met with insurance adjusters to help get it approved and it was. It was a big job, our home and 5 other buildings. 2 crews arrived on the day promised, and the job was complete in 2 days. On the 3rd day, Dustin was here double checking the cleanup, picking up nails and just going above and beyond. He has communicated with me every step of the way, letting me know exactly what to expect. On the day the job was complete, I was informed by insurance that extra supplements were approved for gutter work and some things insurance missed. I didn’t have to do anything, this was all handled by James Kate Roofing. I just can’t say enough about how happy I am with the job done. The roof looks wonderful and all is cleaned up and back to normal. They gave me a quote for a 30 year roof. A friend of a friend referred me to another option with Dustin. He did his own quote, then evaluated mine. In evaluating my initial quote, he gave me feedback related to older technologies that the prior quote was going to use in relation to the attic venting. I went with Dustin's quote (James Kate Roofing) as a result. The roof looks excellent and were very pleased! The real test was when my wife went into the attic and said she could feel a significant reduction in the temperature related to the ridge vents. Now I'm waiting to see the impact on my energy cost. We have a clay tile roof and the prior 3 painters refused to even quote the job. I think they were set up for high volume and were afraid of working on the tile. Anyway I'm glad they declined as James Kate immediately said the roof was not problem for them. Very prompt in providing an onsite visit, asking me what I wanted in detail. The quote was itemized and they completed all work and then some. I can tell they are proud of the work they do and their crew was fantastic. Sandra and Joseph prepared the quote and when it came time for color selections Shannon brought her design expertise and after seeing options we all agreed on a new stucco color. Slightly darker and it looks great next to the stone and Chicago brick areas of the house. I am an architect but having Shannon's designer eye really helped. Work started as initially scheduled at the time of the quote. The crew was great and cleaned up each day after non-stop activity. No breaks until the job was finished. I mean these guys work hard. Thanks guys..! 4 full days and a day of cleaning up Joseph's small punch list. My wife and I completely endorse this company. This was the best recommendation, I could believe the service I received from James Kate. So, I called, and Ivy answered, and I explained that I had a completely new roof installed by a different contractor and want to have the new roof inspected before sending the final payment. Ivy took all my pertinent information, and explained before hanging up, that it might be a few days before someone could come out, but she would call me back to let me know. Surprisingly she called back in about a half hour and told me should had someone in my area, Dustin and he would inspect my roof the same day, … yes, I said, the same day, Wow. The inspection was thorough, more that what I expected. I was sent a complete PDF that included pictures and comments explaining the issues with the roof replacement and Dustin was open to me contacting him with any questions. All of this within a couple of hours of my initial call. There customer service is EXCELLENT, and I wish I had known of James Kate and Dustin before I had the new roof installed…. Educated us on what we needed to do to get our roof replaced. Was available basically 24/7 for whatever crazy questions we had and worked with us on the financial side as well. When they came out to replace the roof, we got texts days in advance when they'd be coming instead of just showing up like some contractors do. The crews that came out were very professional and polite. They made sure nothing would get broke, moved what needed to be moved, covered the rose bushes etc. Nothing got damaged except the old roof 🙂 If you need a roof replaced this is the construction company to use. Again, an absolutely wonderful experience due to everyone being professional, courteous and polite through out the whole process. Our neighbors had recently replaced theirs too and had a James Kate sign in their yard so I checked with the neighbors about their experience and they loved James Kate Roofing and specifically about Shannon Lambert. I also did my due diligence online and saw that James Kate Construction has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and has quite a number of great reviews. I reached out to them and Shannon Lambert contacted me very quickly and explained the whole process and answered all my questions. Shannon worked with our insurance company directly and make the process VERY easy for me. She even gave me input on colors of shingles and gutters/downspouts when I asked for it as I was wanting something different than what we had. She honestly seemed like more of a friend than just a contractor. So the experience with our house was amazing. But what was above and beyond in my book was that I called Shannon to see if they had any recommendations on roofers in the Austin area because my 89 year old mother needed to get her roof replaced as part of the negotiation on selling her house down there and had about 2 weeks to do it without jeopardizing her closing day. I was hoping that maybe I would get a company name or two, but instead Shannon checked with the James Kate roofing team and they decided they were willing to take a day trip down to Georgetown just to take care of my mom's roof. That was completely unexpected and such a blessing because there was nobody living in the house at the time that could coordinate things and I had to do everything from Dallas. Shannon borrowed a spare key from me and took over. They got the new roof on even though we hadn't figured out how the payment process was going to work with my mom's insurance and bank yet. The roof installation group arrived at 6:30am and were done with my ENTIRE roof and skylight replacement by 1:30pm! Amazing... My property was spotless when they left and the workers were polite and professional. Gutter replacement took 2 5 hours a couple days later. The group was just like the roof group, super nice and even asked for my input on where I wanted the downspouts placed. Subtle touch, but this is huge in terms of customer service! Early the next morning, he observed the damage, spoke with my wife while he was there, and also gave me a call to discuss what needed to be done. The following morning, he came out and fixed it. His work and customer service are excellent. He was extremely nice and professional. As far as I know, you can't be more competitive with quality of service and price. I will also mention that I put messages out to several other local roofers via their contact us pages (since we live in a web based world) and Dustin was the only one to ever reply back, and to think about how quickly he responded was amazing.
