Should you repair asphalt shingle roofing or replace it entirely? The answer depends on the extent of damage caused to the shingles. Whatever the case may be, it is a good idea to get started with inspection, repairs and possible replacements as soon as possible.

If your roof inspectors diagnose problems that can be fixed with some repair stat, they will give you a detailed report as to what is wrong with the affected shingles and what can be done to fix it.

Remember, it is easier to fix shingle roofs in the summer time because it gives the roofing cement more time to cure properly. Here are some of the most common problems with asphalt shingles that we often witness in yearly inspection with our clients:

Cracked Shingles

Cracked shingles don’t necessarily have to be replaced. If our roofing specialists find only a hairline crack, we’ll easily put some cement or brush asphalt paint over it and call it a day. If a number of shingles are cracking, a caulking gun is a more convenient shingle repair option. We’ll make sure there is a good seal and that all cracks are filled completely.

Torn Shingles

If you see a torn shingle up on the roof, it is time to call in the experts and have them deal with the situation. Do not attempt to pull it free because that runs the risk of displacing the adjoining shingles. Our roofing experts can help secure it again with a generous application of roofing cement on top of nails.

Curled Shingles

Do you see some curled shingles up there? These can be fixed as well and don’t mandate complete re-roofing. Our roofing specialists will have to examine the curling shingles up front to decide whether the individual shingles will need to be replaced, or they can be cured with an application of cement to put it back in place again.
